How we wash, dry and fold a full bedding set — and the one heat setting to never use if you want sheets that stay soft.

Crisp sheets start with space. We wash bedding alone, never stuffed with jeans or towels, so every sheet rinses fully clean. Warm water for cotton, cool for linen, and half the detergent you think you need.

The dryer setting matters most: medium heat, sheets removed while still slightly damp, then smoothed by hand. High heat feels fast but bakes wrinkles in and wears elastic out months early.
